EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND REQUIRED SKILLS

  • High School Diploma (HSD) or GED is required for all hires
  • Must be comfortable working around blood and with needles
  • Passionate about healthcare and delivering quality patient care
  • Qualities: Reliable, caring, compassionate, collaborative, dependable, responsible, attentive
  • Healthcare experience is a plus but NOT required. i.e. BONENT/ Hemodialysis Technician (CCHT) Certifications, Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Phlebotomy certification, experience working with patients in a hospital or healthcare facility
  • Ready to learn and grow attitude

SCHEDULE

  • 3 to 4 days a week, including rotating Saturdays
  • Shift schedules range between 10-12 hours per day
  • Opening shifts may begin as early as 4:00am, closing shifts may end as late as 7:00pm
  • NO late night, overnight, or Sunday shifts

Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE

  • Support your local community and build meaningful relationships with your patients and teammates
  • Monitor, educate, and provide quality care before, during, and after dialysis treatment
  • Make a positive impact in the lives of people living with kidney disease and their loved ones

RESPONSIBILITIES BREAKDOWN

  • 25%: Receive patients into treatment/exam area; record vitals pre- and post-dialysis: weight, temperature, and blood pressure; measure, monitor, and record vital signs and all other parameters of ESKD patients during treatment; obtain blood samples and culture specimens and prepares for shipment.
  • 25%: Under guidance of nurse and/or preceptor set up and monitor dialysis machines and reverse osmosis (“RO”) water system for correct functioning, respond to visual and audible alarms and makes appropriate adjustments before, during and after patient dialysis treatment, performs safety checks as directed by the registered nurse. Dismantle, clean, and disinfect dialysis machinery and equipment in accordance to DaVita procedures; perform appropriate end of therapy terminal cleaning and disinfection of the dialysis equipment with guidance of nurse and/or preceptor.
  • 20%: Collect patient data and report to nurse and/or preceptor as needed related to:
  • Monitoring and documenting status of vascular accesses
  • Documenting patient observations and seeking guidance when levels are out of normal range for ESKD patients
  • Reporting patient parameters to registered nurse as needed
  • Under guidance of nurse and/or preceptor initiate dialysis via approved accesses using proper cannulation or central venous catheter techniques in accordance with state, federal and local regulations
  • 20%: Review patient’s dialysis prescriptions, note general physical and mental condition of patient through observation and interview, obtain information and/or data to determine compliance to patient’s dietary or medication regimen; document observations and review with nurse and/or preceptor.
  • 5%: Perform clerical duties as needed and review with nurse and/or preceptor which may include: filing, lab requisitions, scheduling appointments, answering phones, ordering supplies, billing, copying, faxing, data entry and maintaining patient charts.
