Description:

We are looking to recruit a Patient Safety Partner. Candidates will demonstrate a genuine commitment to developing excellent health services along with an understanding of and broad interest in patient safety. They will be expected to apply their skills, knowledge, and experience to support decision making that will drive forward the Partnership’ ambition to improve and embed a strong patient safety culture, through Quality Improvement, Quality Reviews and learning. The successful candidate is required to be able to demonstrate the Trust values, the responsibilities of the job description and person specification.
The Patient Safety Partner (PSP) role is an exciting new and innovative role, a key member of our Patient Safety Team, committed to ensuring the lived experience voice has a positive influence across all levels of the organisation to improve patient safety. NLMHP recognises, values and supports the very important role Patient Safety Partners will play and that their active contributions are integral to the organisation’s development and in achieving its aims. The PSP will work with staff as equal partners to influence and improve the governance and leadership of safety within the Trusts.
As part of the Patient Safety Team and with close working relationships with the Service User Experience and Engagement Team, the PSP will be fully supported with training provided.
The ideal candidate will have personal or lived experience of using mental health services and/or as a family member or carer of someone who has used mental health care services.
The Patient Safety Partner will be to work with staff across both Trusts to ensure that we prioritise the safety requirements of our patients, thereby helping to eliminate avoidable incidents and serious incidents and improving the quality of our services. The Patient Safety Partner will co-lead on the development and delivery of staff training in relation to patient safety, lead on patient safety-related projects, and ensure involvement of experts by experience in patient safety processes and practices.
The following are examples of responsibilities and work that Patient Safety Partners will lead or be directly involved in:
Quality and Safety groups (core member).
Review, analysis and cascading of safety related information.
Patient safety-related projects.
Staff patient safety training.
Investigation oversight groups.
The development and implementation of the Patient Safety Strategy and other relevant strategies and policies.

Patient Safety Partners (PSPs) are patients, carers and family members who are recruited to work in partnership with staff to influence and improve governance and leadership in the provision of health care.
The main role of the Patient Safety Partner is to ensure that the lived experience voice is heard and embedded within the organisation, with the core purpose of improving safety and quality.
As a key member of the Patient Safety Team, the Patient Safety Partner will play a crucial role in building and embedding a strong and proactive patient safety culture across the partnership though partnership working, provide critical challenge and support us to continuously improve patient safety.
Please note that this post does not meet the pay level required for a Skilled worker visa.
Successful applicants with no prior NHS experience would normally be placed at the bottom of the band in line with Agenda for Change. This salary is below the minimum salary required for sponsorship for a Skilled Worker / Health & Care visa. In these circumstances the Trust would not, therefore, be able to sponsor for a Skilled Worker / Health & Care visa.
