Description:

A Patient Service Officer (PSO) is a key member of the healthcare team, primarily responsible for providing administrative support and ensuring the smooth functioning of patient services within a healthcare facility. Here’s a detailed job description:

  • Patient Registration : Greet patients and visitors as they arrive at the facility, assisting them with the registration process. Collect demographic information, insurance details, and other necessary paperwork to create or update patient records accurately.
  • Appointment Scheduling : Coordinate patient appointments, consultations, and follow-up visits, utilizing scheduling software or systems. Work closely with healthcare providers and other staff members to optimize appointment scheduling and minimize wait times for patients.
  • Patient Communication : Serve as a point of contact for patients and their families, addressing inquiries, scheduling changes, and other concerns promptly and professionally. Provide clear and accurate information about services, policies, and procedures to ensure a positive patient experience.
  • Billing and Payments : Process patient payments, co-payments, and deductibles, explaining financial responsibilities and payment options as needed. Generate and distribute invoices, statements, and receipts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with billing regulations and policies.
  • Medical Records Management : Maintain confidentiality and integrity of patient medical records, both in physical and electronic formats. Ensure timely and accurate documentation of patient encounters, treatments, and other pertinent information according to established guidelines and protocols.
