    The Department of Justice and Community Safety are seeking a Payments Officer to join the new Victims of Crime Financial Assistance Scheme, to coordinate, review and approve financial assistance payments.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • A relevant tertiary qualification or experience in finance, business administration, operations, and/or community services is desirable.

Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE

Duties will include:

  • Coordinate, review and approve financial assistance payments, including future authorised expenses.
  • Conduct quality assurance checks to ensure all payment details are accurate, including occasional direct contact with victims.
  • Coordinate payment schedules for processing by the departmental central unit payment team.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Demonstrated experience in finance and budget management with general knowledge of the application of government accounting and financial legislation, policies, processes, and budget/reporting cycles, preferably within a state government environment (or similar).
  • Experience in high volume processing roles, such as accounts payable functions.
  • Ability to create reports, manipulate and analyse data, and critically review and enhance processes within both stable and changing environments (desirable)
