There is an excellent Payroll Administrator job opportunity open with Robert Half, for candidates who have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, know how to effectively problem solve, and possess a solid knowledge of Microsoft Office software. The Payroll Administrator provides a potential contract-to-hire role, based north of Minneapolis. This role will be onsite for the training period (approximately 4 weeks) then will rotate between 2-3 days/week in office. What you get to do every single day

  • Track payroll record changes by entering updates in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, and job title and department/division transfers
  • Follow established policies and procedures to maintain payroll operations and report changes as necessary
  • Handle payroll discrepancies through information collection and analysis
  • Supporting all internal and external audits related to payroll
  • Draft relevant year-end reports, as well as weekly, monthly, and quarterly ones, for department heads
  • Exercise of proper data management by collecting, calculating, and entering payroll data
  • Handle reconciliation of employee deductions and other relevant liabilities
  • Calculate employer social security, unemployment, and worker compensation payments and employee federal and state income and social security taxes to determine payroll liabilities
  • Continue employee confidence in payroll operations by keeping sensitive information confidential
  • Manage other tasks as assigned
  • Offer proper review and verification of source documents
  • Facilitate company compliance according to federal and state regulations and guidelines
  • Organize and compile summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages in order to draft relevant reports
  • Take charge of all questions and requests related to payroll
  • Experience with high volume multi-state payroll, billing, licensing, AP, etc.
  • Expertise in federal and state payroll regulations and requirements
  • Benefits payroll experience desired
  • Proficiency in Dayforce
  • Knowledge of payroll systems for 100-500 employees
  • Foundational knowledge in Ceridian Payroll System
  • Earlier experience working with various types of accounting software desired
  • Preference will be given to Certified Payroll Professional
  • Accurate, swift, data entry abilities
  • Proficient knowledge of basic accounting principles and solid financial acumen
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office with strong Excel skills
  • 2+ years of relevant experience in payroll
  • Understanding of internal controls
  • Remarkable analytical, quantitative and social skills
