POSITION SUMMARY

The Payroll Analyst is a key member of the System and Process team for North America, responsible for payroll and time evaluation analysis, along with adherence to collective agreements and legislation.

QUALIFICATION PROFILE

Education:

  • Undergraduate or College degree in Business, HR or related field, or equivalent experience
  • APA/CPA certification preferred

Work Experience:

  • Strong preference given to bilingualism, French and English
  • Three years experience in a large scale organization supporting Payroll and Benefit Administration
  • Experience in a multi-union & multi-province (CAN) or multi-union & multi-state (US) organization
  • Strong understanding of payroll legislation, collective agreements, company policies and payroll accounting
  • Through knowledge and experience of payroll calculation including garnishments, third party vendor calculations, off-cycle payroll calculation, process models etc.
  • SAP experience would be considered an asset
  • Experience with master data management and payroll processing

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Good knowledge of SuccessFactor HRIS and SAP payroll system
  • Excellent computer skills such as Microsoft Excel and Access and/or Google Suite
  • Excellent communication skills to articulate problem scenarios and potential solutions
  • Competency in payroll processing activities with a desire and the ability to learn US and Canadian Payroll
  • Customer focused approach with excellent organization, interpersonal and communication skills
  • Good understanding of governmental legislation related to Human Resources and/or Payroll
  • Comfortable with determining payroll calculations
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment

Results/Accountabilities

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality with highly sensitive information and adhere to data privacy and internal compliance requirements
  • Participate in complex payroll support functions - calculate, review, verify and post a variety of complex payroll data such as gross pay, retirement, contract adjustments, retroactive payments, hours, tax information and leave; balance.
  • Timely resolution of escalated and/or sensitive employee issues
  • Support the payroll system testing including testing of any upgrades and critical year-end activities
  • Act as key internal control providing reasonable assurance of effective and efficient operations, including actions to prevent and detect fraud and protect Company resources

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with data conversions, field mapping,and translations/transformation logic
  • Experience in time manage the deliverables of functional team to meet engagement objectives and UAT time lines
  • Build and maintain relationships with key executives, HR and business personnel.
  • Operate as subject matter expert SME and a network of professional organizations or affiliations
  • Understand configuration requirements to meet customer needs while providing best-practice guidance on customer processes
  • Actively participate in design workshops with the team and business.
  • Maintain currency with legislative changes of US and Canadian payroll to ensure the payroll system is up to date with those changes.
  • Validate the integrity of payroll data and all the steps of the year-end process.
  • Single point of contact (SPOC) for Pay Agents, HR Administrators, HR Coordinators, and People Data Specialists supporting the following:
  • Data clean up / Data integrity MCS 25.5 (SAP AND SF)
  • Training - when processes change, new modules open, onboarding new payroll folks, etc.
  • Liaison with ABS SuccessFactors Helpdesk
  • Support safety culture of Lafarge by adhering to safety policies, taking ownership for ensuring a safe workplace, ensuring departmental representation on the Health & Safety Committee, and demonstrating support to organizational safety initiatives
  • Other duties as assigned.
