StackTeck supplies a wide range of injection molds and IML automation used to produce plastic parts in applications such as caps, closures, medical, PET preforms, and thinwall packaging; as well as complete system integrations including IML.
SUMMARY: The Payroll & Benefits Specialist will be the first point of contact for employees, supervisors, managers and outside parties for all payroll and payroll compliance related matters. This position will report into the Controller and also includes benefits and other HR support to the VP – Human Resources. Once the training period is complete, this role will have the ability to work remotely 1 day a week, with 4 days working in-office.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS:

  • A minimum of 5 years of applicable payroll & benefits experience, preferably with experience in an hourly / manufacturing environment.
  • Must have in-depth experience processing payroll through ADP WorkForce Now.
  • Ability to assess implications of standing data changes on payroll compliance.
  • Effective communication both written and oral is required.
  • PCP (Payroll Compliance Practitioner) certification from the Canadian Payroll Association or in active pursuit of is required.
  • Completion or active pursuit of the CPM (Certified Payroll Manager) designation is desirable.
  • Strong computer literacy; must be proficient with MS Office Excel, Word and MS Teams as well as computerized payroll. Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 is an asset.

Responsibilities:

  • Accurate and timely balancing and processing of bi-weekly payroll for 275 employees (including 180 hourly employees)
  • Daily time posting to the company ERP
  • Actioning all standing data changes (hires/terms/performance reviews) in time-keeping software, Manulife Retirement/Benefits, and ADP
  • Leave of Absence and other non-standard payroll activities also to be actioned within ADP
  • Monthly, year-end and ad-hoc payroll related compliance and reporting including T4’s and ROE’s
  • Uploading biweekly RRSP contribution data to provider
  • Maintain digital and physical employee files to ensure all employee data is current and physical records are secure
  • Continuous improvement of the payroll function including:
  • Participation in the Digital Transformation / ERP project as a key steering committee member/implementation partner for Payroll/HR
  • Improved vacation entitlement AND vacation accrual reporting
  • Communicate with managers and employees regarding any payroll related inquiries
  • Management / Control of variable compensation (volume commission / new customer incentive)
  • Support year-end audit related activities
  • Payroll related account reconciliations and journal entries including floater days, vacation accrual etc.
  • Benefits administration and performance management/review administration support
  • Other general accounting duties and special projects as assigned including periodic transactional level support of the AP and AR functions (to cover vacation or illness)
