Headquartered in Stoney Creek, the plants have design, mold, paint, assembly and testing capabilities. Tiercon manages 5 sites across 2 cities employing approximately 550 people throughout Canada. Tiercon is seeking knowledgeable, self-directed, experienced and hardworking individuals interested in the automotive industry as a Payroll & Benefits Administrator at our 591 Arvin facility.
Job Summary & Reporting Structure:
Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, the Payroll Administrator is responsible for overseeing the transmission of designated weekly payrolls.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide outstanding service to both internal and external customers and partners
  • Preparation and distribution of the organization’s (union and non-unionized) hourly and salaried payrolls in Ontario and Michigan.
  • Train all new time and attendance system users to ensure effective and accurate payroll processing.
  • Proactively work with various departments, managers and employees in the resolution of payroll issues and inquiries thoroughly and in a professional manner
  • Oversee payment of severance, salary continuance and taxable benefits in accordance with company policies and government legislation. Generate all off cycles as required.
  • Completion of Year-end adjustments, reconciliation and filing requirements including T4, and other tax forms as the need arises
  • Reconcile monthly invoices for benefits, union dues, balance agency invoices and code for general ledger and WSIB.
  • Administrate all benefits including new enrollments, changes, terminations and troubleshooting.
  • Troubleshoot and investigate payroll related issues and errors, providing corrective action as needed
  • Establish, design, implement and maintain payroll process documentation for all workflow and system procedures necessary to support internal processes, system processing and to support business continuity
  • Ensure compliance with all related federal and state/provincial legislation, corporate policies as they relate to administration of payroll, including salaries, termination payments, garnishments and other special payments
  • Establish and maintain protocols around master files supporting payroll inputs as backup for internal and external audits.
  • Provide information on payroll results through creation of custom reports using Ceridian Dayforce or Time and Attendance system required for corporate decision making and audit needs
  • Participate in Ceridian Dayforce testing and launch for future enhancements and integration with external systems
  • Provide training of the time and attendance system to leaders who manage timecards
  • Assist with compensation inquiries.
  • Supports other HR functions as appropriate.
  • Promote continuous improvement in all areas

Qualifications:

  • Related post-secondary education, PCP designation or in process
  • Exceptional customer service and resolution skills for internal and external clients
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken.
  • Strong organization skills, effectively handle multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Possesses strong analytical skills High level of integrity and confidentiality. Knowledge of Collective Bargaining Agreements preferred Knowledgeable of MS Office applications (Word, Excel) and Payroll systems
  • 5+ years payroll experience (transmission of multiple payrolls, 500+ employees and multiple jurisdictions)
  • Demonstrated Advanced working knowledge of payroll systems
  • Ceridian Dayforce experience a major asset
  • Demonstrated advanced experience using time and attendance systems
  • Demonstrated intermediate benefits administration and coordination experience
