A LITTLE ABOUT YOUR QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) complemented with accounting courses 1 to 3 years of related payroll and benefits administration experience
  • Experience with UKG UltiPro/Kronos HRIS and payroll software is a strong asset
  • Strong attention to detail and time management in a strict deadline environment
  • Proactive, self-initiative inclination with strong problem-solving abilities
  • Excellent communication and timely follow-up
  • Equivalent combination of the above may be appropriate

Responsibilities:

Beem Credit Union is looking for a proactive and energetic individual experienced in full-cycle payroll and benefits administration to join our dynamic Human Resources team as Payroll & Benefits Specialist. This role contributes to the credit union by ensuring that employees are compensated in an accurate and timely manner to contribute an overall superior member experience. The position completes full cycle payroll and year end payroll, administers the employee total rewards programs, manages and maintains the HRIS system, and responds to, follows up on and resolves employees’ payroll and benefits inquiries.
This role will enjoy hybrid working arrangements which can be fulfilled primarily from the Burnaby Corporate office or at our Kelowna Corporate Office. What you’ll do:

  • Analyzes, prepares and inputs all outsourced payroll functions including the review of attendance records, data entry in the payroll system, calculation of appropriate payroll deductions and taxable benefits.
  • Partners with employees and managers to find solutions to payroll inquiries. Balances and reconciles the payroll, benefits, pension and salary accounts monthly for review and approval by the Chief People & Culture Officer or designate and completes all necessary corresponding reports.
  • Ensures the completion of appropriate remittances to external vendors.
  • Completes month-end and fiscal year-end payroll procedures including the preparation and distribution of all employee tax documents and year-end payroll payments.
  • Administers group benefit and pension programs ensuring accurate enrolment of participants, effective claims processing, making accurate premium payments and finding solutions to employee inquiries about benefits or pensions.
  • Supports the annual flex benefits enrolment process
  • Administers the sick leave, disability, and vacation benefit programs, including making HRIS updates.
  • Manages and maintains the HRIS system to ensure current information is accurate.
  • Functions as the HRIS system resource for employees with HRIS system inquiries.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge of HRIS system capabilities and changes.
