Payroll Controller
Wilhelmsen Ship Management is looking for a payroll controller with great team spirit and can-do attitude. The payroll controller will arrange correct and timely wage payment to seafarers, handle taxation matters and social cases for all seafarers on Norwegian terms and conditions. It also has the responsibility to ensure correct reporting on foreign seafarers in the Wilhelmsen group that is exposed to Norwegian and possibly other countries taxation.
About the location
The position will be at Wilhelmsen headquarters at Lysaker in Norway. The office is located at the waterfront in modern facilities with easy access to public transportation.

What you will be doing

  • Arrange monthly payroll for seafarers
  • Tax and governmental reporting for Norwegian and non-Norwegian personnel
  • Familiarization with relevant rules and regulations regarding employee tax reporting, and implementation of same
  • Update tariff wages (NOR/NIS), and updating of the accounting payroll system (OCS)
  • Reconciliation of monthly leave days
  • Reconciliation OCS/SAP, OCS/Altinn
  • Prepare/follow up income overview for crew on seismic vessels in operation on foreign continental shelves for taxation purpose
  • Travel expenses
  • Cost control/reasonable test for all vessels after payroll
  • Close cooperation with crewing department, manning offices, payroll office in Asia, vessels, crewing agencies and authorities

Required experience and skills

  • Education and/or experience from accounting, preferably from the maritime/offshore industry
  • Experience from payroll, preferably from seafarers
  • Experience with account reconciliations, annual reporting, and project payroll concepts
  • Extensive experience of Norwegian and international tax law
  • Some experience and knowledge about Norwegian social security exposure for European residents working on Norwegian flagged vessels
  • Ability to inform Marine HR leaders about risks and benefits on actual payroll costs, and advise on possible strategic changes that affect payroll costs
  • Experience with the various pension schemes and connected laws (MPK, OTP)
  • Ability to work on own initiative and in a team
  • Systematic, self-driven, proactive, problem solver
  • Good command of written and spoken Norwegian and English language
  • Good communicative and co-operative skills
  • Ability to identify improvement potentials
  • Good IT/Computer knowledge and skills
