ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Advanced college diploma (3 years) or acceptable combination of equivalent experience
  • Minimum three years of recent experience processing, monitoring and reconciling financial transactions or payroll, preferably in an academic setting
  • Experience troubleshooting and resolving payroll discrepancies and reconciling payroll distribution
  • Experience in interpreting and applying financial policies (e.g. the University’s Guide to Financial Management).
  • Experience in interpreting and applying institutional and legislated requirements related to casual employment
  • Experience maintaining and organizing administrative, financial and HR records
  • Experience coordinating meeting schedules, agendas, materials, action and follow up items
  • Advanced working knowledge with HRIS and FIS or other related financial and payroll systems
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Access
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent problem solving skills, accuracy and attention to detail

Responsibilities:

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

  • Verifying that provisions of applicable collective agreements and/or policies are applied appropriately
  • Collecting supporting documentation required for payroll and/or HRIS processing
  • Processing payroll
  • Troubleshooting and resolving payroll discrepancies
  • Preparing contracts using templates
  • Coordinating the recruitment and training process for teaching assistants
  • Applying the generally accepted accounting principles to all financial tasks
  • Coordinating meeting schedules, agendas, materials, action and follow-up items
