KEY REQUIREMENTS

  • 3 + years of Payroll experience, with at least 1 year in a medium-sized business (500+ people)
  • Experienced in analysing large datasets and adept at navigating complexity
  • Comprehensive understanding of Modern Awards relevant to their industry
  • Proficiency in general payroll practices, procedures, operations, and legislation
  • Intermediate to advanced Excel proficiency
  • Effective stakeholder management abilities
  • Deadline-oriented with a strong focus on precision and detail
  • Capacity to investigate issues and devise solutions
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with KeyPay or similar system advantageous but not required
  • Demonstrates honesty, integrity, and a commitment to confidentiality
  • Capable of working autonomously within a team environment

Responsibilities:

THE ROLE

Due to HUB24’s rapid growth and recent acquisitions, our operational landscape is evolving, prompting the need to hire an experienced Payroll Officer to join our Finance Operations team for this newly created role.
In this position, you’ll analyse extensive datasets and navigate complex modern awards, effectively bridging the gap between payroll functions and regulatory requirements. Your responsibilities will include meticulously processing payroll data, ensuring accuracy and compliance with modern award provisions. With a keen eye for detail and in-depth knowledge of payroll regulations, you’ll streamline processes, identify efficiencies, and provide valuable insights to optimise payroll operations.
You’ll work in a collaborative team to autonomously manage the delivery of accurate and timely payroll across the HUB24 Group.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Work with large data sets to ensure compliance with relevant awards and legislation, including Modern Award Compliance reconciliations
  • Assist in preparing and remitting State and Federal tax obligations, such as PAYG tax, Payroll tax, and Superannuation Guarantee contributions
  • Handle new employee onboarding and terminations from a payroll perspective
  • Maintain accuracy in payroll transactions and payments
  • Prepare and deliver payslips and meet STP Requirements promptly
  • Manage Superannuation Choice funds for employees
  • Administer leave entitlements and payments
  • Act as a liaison with the ATO to address issues
  • Assist with month-end reporting, system reconciliation, and Payroll Tax Lodgement
  • Address general payroll inquiries, provide advice on awards, policies, etc.
  • Resolve payroll issues and maintain employee records
  • Collaborate closely with HR and Finance departments
  • Maintain regular filing and archiving of payroll information
