We are currently looking for a payroll Specialist to join a high education team located in Elgin, they will be looking for a contract to permanent placement opportunity. Below is the job description and key points to operating this role.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Payroll Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll for employees within the organization. This position requires a high level of education, typically a bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field. Additionally, detail oriented certifications such as Certified Payroll detail oriented (CPP) or other relevant credentials may be preferred or required.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field. detail oriented certification such as Certified Payroll detail oriented (CPP) preferred. Strong understanding of payroll processes, regulations, and compliance requirements. Proficiency in payroll software and systems (e.g., ADP, Paychex, SAP). Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with integrity. Organizational and time-management skills to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Proven ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Responsibilities:
Payroll Processing: Execute end-to-end payroll processing activities including but not limited to calculating wages, overtime, deductions, and taxes ensuring compliance with company policies and relevant regulations.
Data Management: Maintain accurate payroll records and employee data in the payroll system. Verify and reconcile timesheets, attendance records, bonuses, commissions, and other payroll-related information.
Compliance: Stay updated on federal, state, and local payroll regulations and ensure compliance with laws such as the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), tax laws, and other statutory requirements. Process payroll taxes and filings accurately and in a timely manner.
Problem Resolution: Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies and issues in collaboration with HR, finance, and other relevant departments. Address inquiries from employees regarding payroll matters.
