Description:

We are in search of a Payroll Specialist to join our team located in Portland, Oregon. This role is crucial in ensuring efficient operations within client’s environment. Your primary focus will be on processing payrolls, remitting tax and benefit payments, auditing purchasing card reconciliations and employee expense reimbursements, among other related tasks. This role offers a short-term contract employment opportunity.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the accurate and timely processing of payrolls
  • Ensure tax and benefit payments are correctly remitted
  • Conduct audits on payroll transactions and purchasing card data to ensure accuracy, authorization, and compliance
  • Administer garnishments and tax levies while maintaining strict confidentiality
  • Generate standardized reports and assist in the production of tax documents as required
  • Contribute to the production and reconciliation of W-2 forms to ensure prompt and accurate mailing and filing
  • Perform other related duties within the Payroll Office as required
  • Review, process, and complete accounting transactions and documents with a focus on accuracy and compliance
  • Prepare and issue checks and direct deposit submittals; submit positive pay reports to bank
  • Administer the purchasing card (p-card) system, including profile maintenance, card issuance, documenting receipts, reviewing reconciliation reports, and auditing expenses
  • Monitor transactions in accounting systems for clearing and outstanding items, ensuring accuracy, authorizations, and compliance
  • Establish accounts in the financial system and prepare invoices.
  • Proficiency in processing bi-weekly payroll
  • Expertise in managing full cycle payroll
  • Strong understanding of payroll regulations and compliance
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise extreme discretion
  • Excellent problem solving/judgement skills, and high level of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong organizational skills, and the ability to work under pressure
  • Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks and meet all deadlines
  • Proficient in MS Office (especially Excel)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
