How you make a difference:
As the Payroll Tax Manager, you will oversee all payroll tax activities, ensuring full compliance with local, state, and federal regulations while managing the filing of payroll tax returns at these levels. You may supervise a team of Payroll staff and will be responsible for auditing UKG to verify accurate calculation and reporting of tax liabilities, as well as addressing inquiries and special requests from employees and regulatory agencies. Additionally, you’ll conduct research on tax laws and payroll withholding procedures, prepare budgets, projections, and special reports, while also managing and auditing the outsourcing of garnishments to UKG.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Balance payroll taxes weekly and biweekly, reconciling them with system-generated reports and GL accounts, and record correcting entries including penalties and interest where necessary.
  • Conduct reconciliation procedures for all processes and develop training manuals for payroll tax balancing, tax deposits, and related processes, ensuring adherence to federal and/or state regulatory guidelines.
  • Serve as a liaison with UKG for payroll tax reporting, leading payroll tax audits and controls, and overseeing year-end processing of W-2 reporting.
  • Research employment tax laws and regulations, ensuring compliance with federal and state requirements, while also overseeing processes related to payroll system functionality, wage withholding orders, and payroll data analysis.
  • Act as a point of contact for UKG regarding garnishments, managing and auditing the outsourcing function to ensure accuracy and compliance.

Qualifications & Requirements:

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant payroll tax experience required.

Experience

  • 5-7 years of related experience.
  • 1-3 years of management experience.

Licenses/Certifications

  • CPP preferred.
