Kōrero mō te Tūranga - About the Role
In this pivotal role, you will collaborate closely with our payroll service provider to uphold the integrity and efficiency of our HRIS system. You will spearhead enhancement projects within our Payroll team, driving forward initiatives aimed at optimizing business processes.

Responsibilities:

  • System Support and Maintenance: Ensuring the continuous operation of our HRIS through upgrades, configuration adjustments, and rigorous quality assurance.
  • Documentation Production: Generating comprehensive technical and user-friendly documentation tailored to business requirements and audience needs.
  • System Capability Development: Assisting in the development, testing, and deployment of new system functionalities to meet evolving business needs.
  • Policy and Procedure Support: Contributing to the development, review, and implementation of policies and procedures pertinent to payroll operations.
  • Reporting and Analytics: Developing and maintaining robust reporting mechanisms to facilitate informed decision-making in people and payroll processes.
  • Subject Matter Expertise: Providing expert advice on technical payroll matters, serving as a point of escalation for complex queries within the team and across the organization.
  • Training and Guidance: Creating and updating training materials and procedural guides to ensure clarity and consistency in payroll practices.
  • Audit Compliance: Supporting external audit activities to ensure adherence to audit requirements and regulatory obligations from Government agencies.

    To thrive in this role, you will need robust payroll advisory expertise acquired in large, intricate organizational settings. Your background should encompass a comprehensive grasp of employment legislation, including the Holidays Act, coupled with proficiency in SQL reporting, and compliance with PAYE, ACC, and IRD regulations.
    Key qualifications include your proficiency in payroll data analysis, and report preparation, coupled with the ability to effectively communicate technical details in clear and understandable terms.

Your work style should be characterized by a keen eye for detail, a commitment to accuracy, and adept organizational skills essential for meeting deadlines effectively.

    We work within the wider Whakapakari Pūmanawa - People and Capability group to provide payroll services to MPI. We collaborate with an external provider to deliver a fortnightly payroll, provide advice and support general pay activities as part of the wider People Operations group.
