Overview:
London Borough of Harrow are currently recruiting for a Pensions Officer to assist in all aspects of pension administration covering the Local Government Pension Scheme, Teachers’ Pensions Scheme and the NHS Pensions Scheme. You will be required to act as first-line contact to the full range of clients (Scheme members, employers,
Admitted Bodies and Scheduled Bodies). You will perform the duties of the post in a manner that reflects excellent service to clients and ensure that the Pensions unit meets or exceeds its challenging performance targets. You will contribute to the timely and accurate processing of the pensioner payroll. You will be required to lead minor project team within Pensions when required. The successful postholder will also supervise the Administration Assistants in general duties relating to Pensions administration.

The Pensions Team acts as the main point of contact for any membership enquiries. The team is responsible for all aspects of Local Government Pension Scheme administration; setting up new members, monitoring and maintenance of pension member records, employer contributions payment of benefits, transfer payments and Additional Voluntary Contributions. The team is also responsible for monitoring and cleansing members’ data to ensure it is fit for purpose and meets the requirements imposed on the Fund by the regulators, the Fund Actuary and HMRC. The team produces annual benefits statements, newsletters and maintains the pensions website.
About you:

The successful applicant will have:

  • Knowledge of the Local Government Pension Scheme Demonstrate a significant working knowledge and understanding of pension legislation
  • Must be able to handle, in an efficient manner, pension related enquiries raised through telephony, written communication, in person or through electronic format
  • Working experience of IT programs including Microsoft Dynamics and Altair Pension System
  • Experience of prioritising own workload in accordance with business needs and of working to tight deadlines within a performance management environment
