Position Purpose
Our Networks, Assets & Assurance (NA&A) People team is seeking an experienced People Partner to join Metro Trains. In this pivotal role, you will provide expert advice and consultation across the Rolling Stock department, overseeing a spectrum of human resource functions and projects throughout the employee lifecycle.

About the Role
Reporting to the Senior Business Partner, you will collaborate closely with managers to address HR requirements, offering expert guidance on work reviews, change processes, and policy implementation.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Drawing from the People Centre, you will consult on various workplace relations issues, offering guidance on policies, procedures, and enterprise agreements.
  • Delivering insightful briefings on HR topics and contributing to continuous improvements in HR systems and practices.
  • Additionally, you will support talent management initiatives, drive employee engagement strategies, and uphold alignment with Metro Trains’ values and culture.
  • Using a collaborative approach with managers and stakeholders to provide reliable guidance to primarily frontline workforce members in a unionised and industrial environment.

This role involves travel to different maintenance depots and our corporate office next to Southern Cross station.

About You:

  • You possess in-depth knowledge of current employment laws and workplace regulations, adeptly translating this expertise into policy development and implementation.
  • You contribute effectively to HR program development that meets organisational objectives.
  • Your strong written and interpersonal communication skills enable you to convey HR best practices and foster relationships across all levels of the organisation.
  • With robust organisational and planning abilities, you excel in prioritising tasks, meeting deadlines, and adapting to dynamic environments both independently and collaboratively.
  • You hold relevant tertiary qualifications in Human Resource Management, underpinning your solid academic foundation in HR practices.
  • Ability to cultivate strong and collaborative relationships with stakeholders.
