We are seeking a forward thinking and driven Human Resources (HR) Business Partner to support our Ontario Region with the ability to work from any of our GTA locations including Waterloo. This is a role where you will be the trusted advisor and lead the full spectrum of HR services for your designated business groups.
Reporting to the Regional People Leader (RPL), the HR Business Partner will provide HR Generalist support to GHD’s Ontario Region. Serving as a strategic business partner to managers, the HR Business Partner will provide guidance and support on a wide range of people related issues, helping align HR strategies to business objectives.
The HR Business Partner is also the first point of contact for employees in multiple offices and will be required to travel to other offices in Ontario and occasionally elsewhere in North America. This role will develop partnerships across the People function, collaborating with the Centers of Excellence (COE); Talent Acquisition, Total Rewards, Talent Management & Diversity, Learning & Development, and Global HR Information Systems, to dedicatedly develop integrated people solutions for the region.

Specific responsibilities will include:

  • Develop best practice solutions to address talent challenges before they impact the business
  • Implement initiatives to build an impactful organization aligned with the strategic leadership initiatives
  • Identify the talent pool strengths and needs, and coordinate programs to leverage strengths and develop needs in partnership with the Talent Management COE
  • Drive the people processes (performance, development, and career) to ensure that employees’ level of performance and capabilities meet current and future requirements
  • Provide advice and support to the Business Group Leaders and their business on various HR matters and help inspire change.
  • Effectively facilitate and implement engagement and development initiatives
  • Mentor and develop leaders to drive performance
  • Ensure that employee relations matters, and change programs are delivered in line with company’s values and mitigates financial and reputational risk
  • Assist with facilitating the implementation of annual HR processes including performance reviews, business planning and remuneration reviews
  • Partner with business on workforce planning, succession leadership planning, and talent assessment and career development
  • Manage the employment relationship through onboarding, probation reviews, layoffs and temporary/contract employees, etc. (where applicable)
  • Lead and drive the communication and sharing of learning across functions to facilitate continuous improvement
  • Work with the Americas People Team members to contribute and participate in People initiatives and special projects
  • Lead projects for the Ontario region as required

For success in this position, you will possess the following skills and qualifications:

  • At least 7 years proven HR business partnering experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Human Resources or related field
  • Experience in professional services firms preferred
  • Broad and sound knowledge of all aspects of Human Resources
  • Sound knowledge of employment law and handling complex employee relations matters
  • Strategic process improvement skill including experience leading change
  • Ability to efficiently address critical HR issues with integrity and confidence
