  • A relevant qualification in human resources or health & safety would definitely be helpful, but more importantly it’s your attitude and desire to learn that will help you succeed in this role.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Demonstrates strong relationship building and management skills.

Ōtorohanga District Council supports the enablement of local decision-making and action on behalf of the community while promoting social, economic, environmental, and cultural well-being of our community in the present and for the future.
Ōtorohanga District covers 1976 square kilometres of beauty, from the peaceful seaside towns of Kāwhia and Aotea in the west, to tranquil Lake Arapuni on the eastern boundary. There are two urban centres of Ōtorohanga and Kāwhia, surrounded by thriving rural communities.

Responsibilities:

  • Full-time permanent position (32 - 40 hours per week depending on the right person’s preference)
  • Located in the peaceful Ōtorohanga
    Reporting to Manager People & Capability, you will be responsible for supporting all aspects of the People & Capability functions such as recruitment, health, safety & wellbeing, and learning & development.
    As the People & Capability Officer, you will provide recruitment advice and support to managers with general queries, which is timely, lawful, and consistent with our people and recruitment strategies and policies. On top of this you will support Ōtorohanga District Council to have a robust health, safety & wellbeing system. Administration is a key aspect of the role to ensure our information is readily and easily accessible.
    The Manager People & Capability is open to developing the right person so if you don’t meet all aspects of the role but are open to learning and working hard then this may be the role for you.
