Description:

We are seeking a motivated and energetic People Operations Associate who is excited to meaningfully contribute to a rapidly growing company and People Operations team. Reporting to the Senior Manager, People Operations, you will be responsible for a wide variety of tasks and projects in partnership with the entire People Team as well as our cross-functional stakeholders. The ideal candidate is an all-around utility team player who is enthusiastic, has excellent communication and project management skills, thrives under pressure and deadlines, and wants to work, support and thrive in this important position.

SUMMARY

The People Operations Associate plays a pivotal role in supporting the Human Resources or People Operations team, focused on enhancing the overall employee experience. This position serves as the primary HR contact for the San Francisco office and is instrumental in various HR functions ranging from recruitment to compliance.
The People Operations Associate will assist in running the daily functions of the Human Resource (HR) department including hiring and interviewing staff, administering pay, benefits, and leave, and enforcing company policies and practices.
Recruitment and Hiring: Assist in recruiting, interviewing, and facilitating the hiring of qualified candidates for open positions. Collaborate with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for job openings.
Employee Verification and Onboarding: Conduct or acquire background checks and verify employee eligibility. Implement and conduct new hire orientation programs and oversee employee recognition initiatives.
Record Keeping: Maintain meticulous records, including the employee directory, organizational charts, and all employee records.
HR Program Administration: Execute routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs, including but not limited to compensation, benefits, leave, disciplinary matters, disputes and investigations, performance and talent management, occupational health and safety, and training and development.
Employee Relations: Receive employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors in the San Francisco office, escalating complex and/or sensitive matters to the People Operations Manager. Participate in disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
Compliance and Best Practices: Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations. Review and maintain HR policies and practices to keep up with recommended best practices. Stay informed on trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
Training and Development: Review, track, and document compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments.
Compensation and Payroll: As back-up, responsible for occasionally managing and executing payroll processing and ensuring accurate and timely compensation for all employees. This role requires an understanding of payroll regulations, tax laws, and compensation structures - particularly in San Francisco, CA.

REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Proven experience in Human Resources.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment laws, including San Francisco Bay Area, regulations, and HR best practices.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks while maintaining a high level of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations HRIS and talent management systems.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required.
  • 5+ years of experience in a People Operations or similar environment preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
  • Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.
