Seeking a Human Resources Generalist on a temporary contract based in Townsville, QLD.

Hays are pleased to partner with a company dedicated to preserving and protecting the Great Barrier Reef. Passionate about seeing, loving and protecting the reef, this organisation is expanding and seeking a People Services Project Officer to join the team on a temporary contract for up to 6 months.

Responsibilities:

YOUR NEW ROLE

In your new role, you will be responsible for:

  • Provision of high-quality HR services and advice, which promotes consistency and best practice.
  • The ability to engage with senior leaders, provide advice and influence outcomes is core to the success of this role, as is the ability to build effective relationships with colleagues across the Commonwealth. Within the People Services function, the APS6 is accountable under broad direction to perform complex HR work.
  • Work independently with the opportunity for reasonable autonomy and accountability for the achievement of outcomes.
  • Exercise both initiative and judgement in the interpretation of policy and in the application of practices and procedures.
  • Effectively engage with stakeholders in relation to complex issues, anticipating and responding to stakeholder needs and expectations.
  • Support project management activities.

To succeed in this role you will require:

  • Knowledge of contemporary human resource practices and systems.
  • Formal qualifications in Human Resources or 3+ years’ experience in HR related role.
  • Project management qualifications or experience managing projects.
  • Experience in a HRIS and recruitment/onboarding platforms and policy development & implementation.
  • Experience in one or more key functional areas within HR (e.g., Recruitment, Learning and Development, Payroll, Employee Relations, or Project Management).
