JOB SUMMARY

This is an entry level professional position responsible for the analysis of complex business problems and assessing how information systems can be utilized to address them. This position effectively documents and supports the structure and functions of extremely complex administrative applications and services for managers and institutional personnel to ensure that the systems continue to operate smoothly even while modifications and enhancements are being made. This high exposure role requires an ambitious and energetic analyst that will:

  • Act as PeopleSoft Financial Systems techno-functional subject matter expert to the university end-users as well as other business analysts within assigned business process area.
  • Act as functional driver for technology development requests including projects, enhancements, upgrades, patches, break fixes, etc., within assigned business process area.
  • Provide strategic system analysis of business and user needs; create business cases; document requirements; design solutions; create functional specifications; maintain change documentation; create and execute test plan and test scripts; create and coordinate communications; act as implementation coordination for multi-functional initiatives within assigned business process area.
  • Provide first level production support for 23 Universities and State Colleges throughout the state of Georgia, as well as the University System office.
  • Consider current and future business implications, leverage technology development and redesign business processes to improve how University System does business.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and a minimum of two (2) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to comfortably work in a fast paces, often ambiguous and event driven environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Some familiarity with SQL and the ability to analyze scripts that will be run against the Oracle database.
  • Ability to explain functional concepts to the business Stakeholders.
  • Ability to work with diverse groups within the University System.
  • Ability to work with customers in gathering requirements.
  • Must be able to travel as needed, including several consecutive overnight stays where applicable, to support organizational objectives and initiatives.
  • Understanding of Accounting principles.

  • Must be flexible, well-organized, and team-oriented.
  • Must be willing to learn cross-functional concepts.
  • Must be able to work on a schedule that includes nights, weekends or holidays when required to address escalated issues.

Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as primary subject matter expert (SME), providing functional support to end users on a single module within a core application system and/or supporting systems.
  • Serve as backup support analyst providing functional support to end users on multiple modules within core application systems.
  • Work with other subject matter experts to support the integration of various application systems between multiple core application systems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve application issues requiring high level business expertise.
  • Assist in the analysis of requirements, design and development of solutions to meet business requirements.
  • Participate in the documentation of functional requirements, system design specifications, use cases, workflow diagrams, and interface designs.
  • Work closely with senior Business Systems Analyst to assist in the development of custom solutions and fixes.
  • Provide 24/7 on-call rotational support of applications.
  • Participate in the implementation of appropriate testing strategy and prepare resulting test cases and scenarios.
  • Perform system testing and assist with Institutional constituents in user acceptance testing as applicable.
  • Support change control process and associated tools to fully document and manage application changes.
  • Provide content and identify areas that require change for end-users documentation (i.e. business processes, training, known issues, release notes, etc.).
  • Ensure requirements are defined for any changes.
  • Analyze impact of changes and resolve any conflicts.
  • Document modifications and work with technical analysts to deliver application program modifications and improvements to end users.
  • Participate in upgrade, patch and fix analysis and system testing.
  • Provide end user training.
  • Create and submit weekly status reports.
  • Participate and lead inter/intra departmental business process improvement initiatives.
  • Attend relevant training seminars as permitted by workload and budget constraints.
  • Participate in organization or system-provided training regarding changes in administrative services law, rules, and regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
