Description:

JOB SUMMARY

IPSD has an opening for a Performance Systems Integration Engineer located in the United Kingdom primarily working from our Peterborough Campus.

The Performance Systems Integration (PSI) team are responsible for end-to-end definition of the performance system:

  • Requirements - System architecture, calibration requirements and control system definition
  • Detailed technical trade-offs and control system development, through use of simulation and analytical tools
  • Demonstrate product quality, emissions conformance, and product signoff

PSI lead the engine performance development cycle; from new technology concept selection, through to development of new products and then supporting and maintaining our current products. PSI also play a key role in integrating our products into customer applications.

EFFECTIVE COMMUNICATIONS - LEVEL WORKING KNOWLEDGE:

  • Ability to communicate clearly with a cross functional team, avoiding technical jargon when inappropriate.
  • Deliver oral presentations and writes reports needed to communicate and document project deliverables.

PROBLEM SOLVING - LEVEL EXTENSIVE EXPERIENCE:

  • Uses problem solving methodologies (e.g. Pareto charts, fish diagrams, etc). to structure problem solving approach
  • Contributes to standard practices for problem-solving approaches, tools, and processes.
  • Ensures capture of lessons to be learned from a problem-solving effort.
  • Develops successful resolutions to critical or wide-impact problems.

Technical Excellence - Level Working Knowledge:

  • Provides effective technical solutions to routine functional challenges via sound technical competence
  • Drive system level trade-offs and make technical recommendations to drive business decisions (ideally using simulation tools & processes)
  • Knowledge of control system development and optimisation through simulation and data analysis
  • Applies current procedures and technologies to help resolve technical issues in one’s general area of technical competence.
  • Effectively performs the technical job aspects, while keeping up-to-date on technical and process best practice

EXPERIENCE OF SOME OR ALL OF THE FOLLOWING:

  • Engine and / or Aftertreatment performance development
  • Engine/powertrain Control Systems
  • 0D/1D simulation tools to design and optimize systems
  • Matlab / Simulink

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

The Performance Systems Integration Engineer role will be focused on the development of our current and future 900 series products, and the successful candidate will work alongside other highly talented Engineers, utilising their problem-solving skills and technical knowledge to make data driven decisions to create new solutions, ensure product quality and emissions compliance.
The successful application will work as part of a cross functional team, collaborating with partners in Systems, Component, Performance and Electronics, to deliver world class products.
