Description:

Nationwide’s procurement function has gone through, and continues to go through, significant and successful transformation to ensure we deliver the best possible outcomes for Nationwide and our customers.
We’re looking for a Procurement Excellence Manager to play a key role in ensuring that our Procurement systems and processes are fit-for-purpose. From initial idea through to delivery, you’ll be responsible for developing and implementing changes to systems, processes and tools that support efficient and effective procurement and payment processes as well as ensuring that we remain compliant with internal policy and external regulation.
You’ll input into our strategy to keep us aligned with best practices, drive improvements in performance and risk indicators, as well as establishing and maintaining strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to identify and implement opportunities for improvement, innovation, and automation, resolving any issues that arise in the Procurement lifecycle.
This role is within the Procurement Strategy & Performance team. We align the procurement strategy with the Nationwide strategy. We identify and address gaps, risks, and opportunities for improvement, innovation, and automation in our processes, and coordinate and collaborate with other functions to ensure alignment, integration, and compliance. We manage and oversee the systems, tools, and data for Procurement and Accounts Payable, ensuring their reliability, security, and accessibility, and provide training and support to our users.
At Nationwide we offer hybrid working wherever possible. More rewarding relationships are supported through our hybrid approach, bringing colleagues together across our UK wide estate, whilst also supporting generous access to home working. We value our time in the office to solve problems, to learn, and to feel connected.
For this job you’ll spend at least two days per week, or if part time you’ll spend 40% of your working time, at one of our offices. If your application is successful, your hiring manager will provide further details on how this works. You can also find out more about our approach to hybrid working here.
If we receive a high volume of relevant applications, we may close the advert earlier than the advertised date, so please apply as soon as you can.

ABOUT YOU

  • You’ll have solid experience as a Coupa Systems Administrator, ideally with Coupa Certifications.
  • You have a working knowledge of the Procurement and Sourcing lifecycle, preferably having worked as a Procurement or Category Manager previously.
  • You have extensive knowledge of Purchase to Pay best practices.
  • You have experience both delivering technical change and manging initiatives though the Change Lifecycle.
  • You are knowledgeable about the governance, audit, policy, and controls requirements placed upon Procurement and Third-Party Management teams.
  • You’re a self-starter with a focus on getting things done.
  • You are highly organised and can effectively prioritise a complex workload.
  • You are highly detail oriented and are comfortable using complex data to inform decision making.
  • You demonstrate strong leadership, capable of engaging, building relationships with, and influencing senior stakeholders.
  • You are familiar with IT architecture principles, specifically relating to Purchase to Pay platforms.

Our Customer First behaviours are all about putting customers and members at the heart of how we work together. You can strengthen your application by showing the behaviours that resonate with you, and how you might have already demonstrated these.

  • Say it straight - This is about being honest and direct with good intent and saying what needs to be said in the room. It’s also about being clear, precise, and using language that we and, importantly, our customers and members can understand.
  • Push for better - This is about aiming high and constantly looking for better in how we work together and serve our customers and members.
  • Get it done - This is about prioritising what will have the greatest impact, being decisive and taking accountability for delivering on the end-to-end outcome.

We know applying for jobs can sometimes feel like you’re sending an application into a black hole. We review each application individually. So, it’s a good idea to call out your most relevant experience on your application to give yourself the best chance.

Responsibilities:

You’ll collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand their strategy and ensure that the Procurement strategy enables those of our key stakeholder groups.
You’ll facilitate workshops throughout the change lifecycle that ensure that design and delivery meet requirements and drive improvements in performance and solve key business problems.
You’ll work with our Purchase to Pay partner to build feature roadmaps, use-cases and business cases for the deployment of new features and capabilities.
You’ll have ownership of the Procurement Change Governance process, ensuring that all change requests are reviewed and prioritised effectively, as well as delivered in-line with the Change Governance framework.
You’ll contribute to the creation and maintenance of key documentation including procurement policies, strategic mapping documents, process & user guides.
