Description:

We have an exciting opportunity for a forward thinking Perinatal Mental Health Practitioner who is an Occupational Therapist by profession to work with us as an integral part of the Specialist Perinatal Mental Health Service and be involved in the expansion and development of the service.
We are looking for someone with a strong professional identity and a passion for perinatal mental health to be part of this innovative team to ensure that women with moderate to severe mental health conditions who are planning pregnancy, pregnant or have a child under the age of one, receive high quality , evidence based, specialist advice, assessment and interventions. The role also involves the provision of specialist advice, consultation, liaison and education to professionals who work with women contemplating pregnancy and during the perinatal period.
Due to the specialism and diversity of our work you would be required to spend half your time being an integrated part of general service provision including screening and assessment of referrals and the other half providing specialist occupational therapy assessments and interventions on a 1:1 basis and within groups. We are looking for an Occupational Therapist with significant clinical experience of MDT working and a good working knowledge or interest in the use of the Model of Human Occupation and sensory approaches.
The Long Term Plan Ambitions for Perinatal Mental Health include:
Increasing provision of services to women experiencing or at risk of experiencing moderate to severe perinatal mental health conditions
Increasing the provision of psychological interventions to women and their families
Assessment and signposting of fathers and partners of women open to the service
Providing specialist perinatal interventions to a number of mothers, where clinically indicated, up to 24 months postpartum
Experience of working in the Perinatal Mental Health field is desirable as is knowledge of Perinatal Mental Health Conditions, prevalence rates, treatment interventions and Safeguarding Policies and Procedures. A keen interest and passion for working with women and their families is a must, as is the ability to work closely with a range of professionals from health visiting, Maternity, Children’s Services and the Third Sector.
There will be opportunities for further training via local and regional delivered training programmes. We have strong links with the East Midlands Regional Perinatal Network. The post holder will also be expected to contribute to the development of a locally agreed programme that delivers training to health and social care professionals in Northamptonshire.
We have developed an extensive induction programme to meet the Perinatal Competency Framework and provide regular supervision and training for all our staff.
If you want to work as part of our expanding specialised multi-professional team, we want to hear from you.
