Description:

Perinatal Mental Health Services has received extensive investment in recent years, recognising the importance on public health in treating mental health problems in the perinatal period. We are looking for an enthusiastic, diligent, and experienced Occupational Therapist who has the ability to manage complex situations to join our team. Sound therapeutic strategies, combined with the ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing are essential. You will have experience of working with mothers with perinatal illness and some knowledge of normal child development in order to understand the potential impact of untreated maternal mental illness on the developing foetus/infant/children.
You will have the ability to liaise effectively with various health, social and voluntary professionals. A sound working knowledge of Safeguarding is also required. This post offers a supportive team working environment, with commitment to supervision. To be professionally and legally responsible for all aspects or own work, ensuring high standard of care for the patients under your management To maintain an individual caseload being responsible for assessment, evidenced based interventions / treatment and evaluation.
Understanding of patients needs relating to active rehabilitation and impact on functional ability. To evaluate interventions and ensure effective outcomes. To priorities caseload allocation and to ensure appropriate service delivery. To utilize core specialist OT skills (as appropriate to area of work).
To work across health and social care boundaries. Implement and co-ordinate a range of group work and individual work. To use expertise to deliver therapeutic interventions to patients with complex needs. To carry out effective discharge planning.
To work with patients / carers with diverse needs. To represent all patients occupational therapy needs at MDT producing reports to support the work carried out. To assist in the planning, implementation and evaluation of the activities programme produced for the wards To supervise junior members of the Occupational Therapy Tea
