We are currently seeking a dedicated personal support worker to assist my Mum with her daily activities and hobbies. Mum, who has hearing difficulties and enjoys a variety of activities, including trips out, colouring, baking, sewing, and knitting, and also requires assistance. Your role will be essential in helping my mum access the community and engage in various activities that enhance her overall well-being.

Job Description:
Ability to support Mum with personal care, including changing incontinence pads when necessary.
Willingness to assist with appointments and finding new activities to improve Mum’s mobility.
Support to prepare meals, which may include batch cooking or leaving a prepared meal.
Capable of providing reassurance and support during times of agitation and frustration.
Assisting Mum with daily activities, hobbies, and exercises.
Providing companionship and emotional support.
Accompanying Mum on outings and trips.
Supporting Mum with personal care and hygiene needs.
Helping to schedule and attend appointments as required.
Monitoring and addressing Mum’s comfort and well-being.
Collaborating with family members to ensure Mum’s needs are met.
Offering companionship and emotional support to enhance my general wellbeing.
Help and support in and around the house.
Any other reasonable duties as requested.
Person specification
Essential:
Familiarity with professional boundaries and sensitivity to Mum’s complex health needs.
Fluency in English is essential, as Mum wears hearing aids and requires clear communication.
Holder of a valid UK driving license over the age of 25, as Mum has a mobility car and enjoys trips to shops and the seaside during the summer.
The ideal candidate would require a calming, reassuring, Caring and Patience
The person I employ, must have an understanding of the need for confidentiality in all areas of work including total respect for my privacy.

Desirable:
Previous experience in a similar role is preferred.
Flexibility in working hours to accommodate the individual’s needs.
Experience working with individuals with dementia.
Summary terms and conditions
The rate of pay for this position is £11.00 per hour.
Hours and times of work: 12 Hrs Per Week, Time discussed further at interview.
The annual holiday entitlement for this position will be equivalent to the work I would normally expect to be done during 5.6 consecutive weeks.
Free Care Skills training is provided to employed staff.
The post is subject to the following:
A satisfactory enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, the cost of which will be covered by the employer.
Satisfactory references from two referees, one of whom must be your current or last employer.
Completion of a satisfactory probationary period of 3 months
