At Bradford College our staff are working together to transform lives and aiming to provide our students with an outstanding experience. Our Personal Development Officers are responsible for designing and delivering a broad enrichment offering that develops the personal and essential life skills of students and therefore, as a Personal Development Officer, you will support them to build their cultural and social capital to empower them to realise their potential in work and life.

Responsibilities include:

  • Organise, coordinate and deliver a wide range of events and activities to develop the essential life and personal skills of students, and engage students in this process;
  • Develop resources for extracurricular activities, inductions, tutorials and personal development plans and deliver these to a high standard;
  • To provide opportunities for students to develop their cultural and social capital;
  • To engage Bradford College students in activity which will enable them to extend their personal and employability skills;
  • To actively work with curriculum teams in design and delivery of inter-departmental enrichment events and activities;
  • Organise and deliver initiatives and events that recognise and celebrate the successes and achievements of students;
  • Model and encourage positive behaviours and supportively challenge poor student behaviours.
  • Contribute to the planning of the departmental budget;
  • To ensure all activity delivered and student engagement is appropriately recorded;
  • Contribute to and report against data;
  • To actively support peers across the department;
  • Network, collaborate and build relationships with external organisations and stakeholders;
  • Supporting students’ Union activities including signposting and encouraging student engagement;
  • Supporting key events such as induction and open days;
  • Raise purchase orders in line with college policies and procedures where required;
  • Contribute to the triage of all Student Services functions;
