Drug Test: Yes. This is a Drug Testing Designated Position (TDP); Upon hiring, subject to unannounced random drug testing for the length of time the Incumbent occupies the TDP position. As with all federal employees, the Incumbent will be subject to reasonable suspicion, and post-accident drug testing for as long as the Incumbent is a federal employee.
This is a Drug Testing Designated Position (TDP). All applicants tentatively selected for this position will be required to submit to urinalysis to screen for illegal drug use prior to appointment and will be subject to random drug testing upon hiring for the length of time the Incumbent occupies the TDP position. As with all federal employees, the Incumbent will be subject to reasonable suspicion, and post-accident drug testing for as long as the Incumbent is a federal employee. Appointment to the position will be contingent upon a Negative applicant drug test result.

As a Personnel Security Specialist, you will use your knowledge of and experience with personnel suitability and security clearance programs to optimize business results and customer experience by:
- Providing services that support the mission of SAMHSA, including security and public safety.
- Managing and administering the SAMHSA personnel suitability and security clearance program, verifying personal identity, processing and initiating security requests, conducting and adjudicating background investigation, making final suitability determinations, authorizing and administering facility access, issuing ID badges for SAMHSA personnel, administering security awareness programs.
- Resolving gaps in specificity or conflicts in guidelines, consistent with stated security program objectives, and participating in developing guidelines and new methods, criteria, or proposed new policies for use by other specialists and program staff within SAMHSA in administering personnel security functions
