Description:

We Are Hiring:

  • Department: Inpatient
  • Schedule: Evening shift, 3:00PM-11:30PM, Monday-Friday with every other weekend commitment
  • Hospital: Ascension St. Agnes
  • Location: Baltimore, MD

Minimum of two years of experience working as a pharmacist in a hospital or clinical setting.
Experience in various pharmacy practice areas, including but not limited to inpatient care, ambulatory care, and clinical pharmacy services.
Proven experience in medication management, drug distribution, and therapeutic monitoring.
In-depth knowledge of pharmacotherapy, pharmacology, and clinical pharmacy practices.
Ability to assess patient medication regimens, identify and resolve drug therapy problems, and optimize therapeutic outcomes.
What You Will Do:

Assure the appropriate selection, dosing, administering, and dispensing of medication order.

  • Review and assess medications order to identify, prevent and resolve potential and actual drug related problems.
  • Recommend formulary alternatives when appropriate.
  • Compound and dispense medication for accurate delivery to patients.
  • Provide drug information and education to medical staff and patients.
  • Communicate with physician and other clinicians as necessary to facilitate care.
  • Oversee technical personnel who assist in the preparation, maintenance, and dispensing of medications and supplies.
  • Assist with academic function such as serving as a preceptor for pharmacy students.
  • May float to provide coverage of pharmacy needs.
  • Provide patient counseling efficiently and effectively when required.

What You Will Need:

Licensure / Certification / Registration:

  • Pharmacist credentialed from the Maryland Board of Pharmacy obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date required.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Pharmacy required.

Additional Preferences:

SPECIALIZED SKILLS:

  • Proficiency in using pharmacy software and technology for medication order verification, dispensing, and patient monitoring.
  • Knowledge and experience in sterile compounding and aseptic technique, if applicable.
  • Understanding of and adherence to state and federal regulations related to pharmacy practice.
  • Experience in providing guidance and leadership to pharmacy technicians and support staff.
  • Ability to supervise and mentor less experienced pharmacists or pharmacy residents, if applicable.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to assess and address medication-related issues.
  • Ability to make sound decisions independently and in collaboration with healthcare teams.
  • Communication and Collaboration:
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with healthcare professionals, patients, and interdisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to collaborate with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare providers to optimize patient care.

EDUCATION AND LICENSURE:

Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.) or Pharmacist degree from an accredited pharmacy program.
Active and unrestricted pharmacist license in the state of Maryland.
