Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:

  • Leads the development of Clinical Pharmacy Services across the Medical Division , and OPM (Older persons medicines) This includes the following specialities: Cardiology, Diabetes, Gastroenterology, General Medicine, Hepatology, Respiratory, Frailty, Rehabilitation / Stroke and OPM.
  • Provides expert advice, undertakes relevant risk management and leads on ensuring compliance with current legislation and guidance.
  • Leads and develops the pharmaceutical aspects of clinical audit and practice based research.
  • Contributes to CIPs and management of the medicines budget across the Clinical Division. Current medicines budget for Medicine and Urgent Care is £12.5 million.

QUALIFICATIONS

Essential

  • Registered Pharmacist.
  • MSc/PgD in Clinical Pharmacy.

Desirable

  • Practice Certificate in Non-Medical Prescribing.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

Essential

  • Demonstrable confidence as a clinical pharmacist.
  • Demonstrable ability to use initiative and be proactive.
  • Demonstrate ability to business plan for service development and use of new medicines.
  • Experience in writing guidelines, policies and procedures and putting them into practice.
  • Demonstrate clinical appraisal skills.
  • Demonstrate ability to work with stakeholders to implement change.
  • Demonstrate ability to maintain quality standards.
  • Demonstrate strong presentation skills and ability to use standard office software applications.

Desirable

  • Sound knowledge of therapeutics within these clinical specialities.
  • Demonstrable ability in the identification of training needs.
  • Clinical appraisal skills.
  • Word and data processing ability.

EXPERIENCE

Essential

  • Significant hospital pharmacy experience involving clinical pharmacy services.
  • Previous experience as a pharmacist in a leading role (team, service or directorate responsibilities).
  • Previous experience and clinical pharmacy knowledge and ability within the specialist clinical services.

Desirable

  • Minimum 5 years as clinical role.
