About the role
Contribute to the provision of a safe and effective hospital pharmacy service that is aligned to organisational goals and values, best practice, professional standards and legislative requirements. Undertake technical and support tasks under the supervision of senior Pharmacy Assistants and Pharmacists, including medicines distribution, stock management, product preparation, prescription processing and associated activities.
About you

You will be assessed on your ability to demonstrate the following key accountabilities in the context of the responsibilities of the role described above and Metro North’s organisational values:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary pharmacy practice including legislative requirements, professional standards and code of conduct and how this applies in a hospital pharmacy.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the process of dispensing prescriptions, practical skills in assisting with medicine preparation and supply, and knowledge of the requirements of the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme
  • Demonstrated knowledge of pharmaceutical inventory management, storage and disposal including requirements for Schedule 8 medicines and distribution of medicines to hospital clinical areas.
  • Demonstrated practical skills and understanding of the procedures for aseptic and non-aseptic preparation of pharmaceutical products, or an ability to acquire such skills
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and to work as a team member
  • Knowledge of or an ability to acquire knowledge of relevant procedures and policies, regulations and standards, including those relating to contemporary human resource management issues such as workplace health and safety, equal employment opportunity, and anti-discrimination.
