Description:

Recognising the changes in the initial education and training for pharmacy technicians and experience gained in working in different sectors of the profession, we are delighted to be able to offer a new band 4 to band 5 professional development post. Your experience, skills and knowledge will be matched against our development pathway and an individual programme will be tailored to meet your training and development and our service needs, enabling you to progress to a guaranteed Band 5 position on successful achievement of competency. The expected timeframe to undertake and complete relevant competencies is between 6 months to a year.
Our aim as a department is to provide excellent care with compassion for every patient and their families on every occasion. You will be joining a friendly team, who pride themselves on working to the values and behaviours they have said are important to them to deliver the best care - Patient Focused, Support Each Other and Embrace Improvement.
If you are ambitious, self-motivated and enthusiastic, and these values resonate with you, then we would love for you to join our team and contribute to our award-winning services.
You should be positive about the extended role of the pharmacy technician and developing themselves and the work of our team to support patient care. Support and training will be provided to ensure that you have the skills and knowledge to be effective in the role and this will include the opportunity to undertake management medicines training and an accuracy checking qualification.
The department provides a seven day service and the successful candidate will be required to work weekends and bank holidays on a rotational basis. You will be required to work at both sites of the Trust – Royal Preston Hospital and Chorley and South Ribble District General Hospital.
Depending on bed capacity within the hospital, there are occasions where the volume of work requires flexibility from the team on duty to stay late to ensure patient care is not compromised. In these instances, staff are reimbursed with either additional pay or lieu time.
Working hours are between 8:00am and 5:30pm Monday to Friday on rotation with each shift being 7.5 hours and 30 minute lunch break. There is also a requirement to work one Saturday or Sunday every five weeks (you’ll then get a day off the following week) and one bank holiday a year. Weekend and Bank Holiday shifts have additional pay rates. As a Trust, we support agile and flexible working and will consider requests taking into account the needs of the service. You’ll have an opportunity to discuss this at interview.
We have 10,000 fantastic people working hard to deliver quality services to our patients. Whatever your role, you help look after 370,000 people in our local area & give specialist care to 1.5 million people across Lancashire & Cumbria.
Working with us gives you the knowledge and sense of pride that every activity you do genuinely does make a difference to support our patients & staff, ensuring we keep thriving & delivering outstanding healthcare right across our local towns.
You’ll have access to varied development opportunities, learn new skills, meet fab people & do things you’d never have done. You’ll learn about working in a hospital, interacting with people from all different roles to build skills & enhance your career path.
You’ll make an impact, be challenged to think differently, be bold & help innovate to keep improving things. Everything we do centres around patient care which means your role is pivotal and something really to be proud of.
