Description:
We are the people behind Ireland’s electricity grid. We operate the power system with world leading levels of variable asynchronous renewable generation, ensuring that everyone has power when they need it. But that’s not all, we are now transforming the power system for future generations.
And that’s just the beginning of our story. We have a critical purpose. That purpose is to transform the power system to enable our society to reduce our carbon emissions and meet our climate change and net zero ambitions.
The Opportunity
We are now seeking innovative, solution-focused and resilient individuals with a PHD and engineering/energy background to join the Chief Digital and Information Office (CDIO) and play a key role in the transition to a low carbon energy future.
The Chief Digital and Information Office (CDIO) is responsible for visioning and planning the power system and market of the future as well as innovating in how we operate and develop the grid to ensure we meet climate change targets and decarbonise the electricity system. Creating a culture of continuous improvement that drives technical and process innovation is central to delivering on these roles.
We now have a number of opportunities across CDIO where individuals will get the opportunity to apply their academic knowledge and make a significant contribution to how we operate the future power system and market.
We are particularly interested in hearing from you if you have a PHD and experience in any of the following areas:
- Power system modelling and analysis using power systems analysis software such as PSS/E, DIgSILENT PowerFactory, PSCAD, and Plexos
- Design and development of the operational systems, tools, system services, standards and operational policies
- Energy economics and policy
- Market design
- Development and integration of new technologies and innovations (e.g. Hybrid technologies, Battery Energy Storage Systems, Low Carbon Inertia Services)
If you don’t see a role advertised that matches your experience and background; upload a short cover letter with your CV (using the Apply Now button below) and start a conversation with us about possible future roles
