Description:

Phlebotomist, Band 2 (20 hours a week)
We are looking for an enthusiastic person to join our expanding Phlebotomy team- phlebotomy experience is preferred
The potholder will participate in the provision of a Phlebotomy service for in-patients, outpatients and GP patients, and the community Diagnostic Centre ( CDC ) based at the quayside
As a member of the Pathology team you will contribute directly to the provision of an efficient and responsive service as part of patient diagnosis, care and treatment. The post Holder will be expected to participate in the provisions of a continuous weekend and Bank Holiday Service
Working pattern details: Monday 8am to 16.30 Tuesday & Wednesday 08.00-12.00 Friday 08.00-12.30

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Ability to overcome barriers to communication caused by language, mental or physical impairment.

  • Practical experience of Phlebotomy practices including the selection of the optimum site and method for blood collection.
  • Specialist knowledge of the wide range of Pathology blood and urine tests (in excess of 300) and the specific laboratory requirements relating to

their collection, storage and transport.

  • Satisfactory levels of literacy and numeracy with good attention to detail.
  • Physical fitness is essential, including the ability to lift and carry
