The Photonic Solutions Business Unit handles the development and support of industry’s only unified electronic-photonic design platform. This Photonic IC design solution, comprised of OptoCompiler, OptSim and Photonic Device Compiler, combines mature and dedicated photonic simulation, implementation, and verification technology with industry-proven custom design tools to enable engineers to produce and verify complex designs quickly and accurately.
We are looking for a talented and enthusiastic new colleague:
Solutions Engineer – Photonic IC Design Flow
This job position will closely collaborate with imec Research Center and its partners. Imec is a world-leading R&D and innovation hub for semiconductors and digital technology located in Leuven, Belgium. The focus of this position is the technology advancement and tool adoption of our Photonic IC design modeling solutions for existing and future photonic IC and multi-die architectures. If you have great problem-solving skills and like to work in an existing new field, we want to hear from you.
As a Solutions Engineer you will work closely together with the other engineers in the Photonic Solutions team and colleagues from other Synopsys groups to support our customers with in-depth knowledge of our software and the integrated photonics application field.

Key Responsibilities of the role include:

• Deploy and advance our solutions in daily collaborations with internal teams as well as our partners at imec.
• Apply and test device and circuit level simulation solutions to advanced photonic device design challenges. Help to define test patterns to qualify (compact) models.
• Apply and test implementation and physical verification of Photonic IC and 3DIC test chips.
• Provide technical and engineering insight and direction to support and improve usability, applicability and adoption of products, platforms, and solutions to meet customer business needs.
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve complex technical issues on software installations.
• Reviews and analyzes feedback on product and solutions performance from imec and its partners.
• Point of Contact interface to bridge the communication between internal teams and imec and its partners.
• Take project lead and technical coordination on a mutually defined strategic collaboration topic.

Key Qualifications:

• Work experience: mid-senior (4-5 years).
• You are holding a degree in a relevant field like physics, mathematics or electrotechnical engineering.
• You have gained relevant experience during your studies or career as designer of (photonic) ICs, as a CAD enablement engineer or in a customer support role for design automation tools for layout and simulation.
• You understand how chips are designed and manufactured and preferably have experience with integrated photonics.
• You consider yourself to be practical, abstract-minded and customer oriented.
• You can work independently and efficiently with colleagues and other teams.
• You like to solve problems, present ideas, and drive projects.
• Very good written and verbal communication skills in English are required.
• Location: Assignee at imec Research Center, Leuven, Belgium.
• Full Time.
• International travel: expect less than 10%
