Ochsner Health is seeking a Board Certified/Board Eligible CHAIR, DEPARTMENT of OPHTHALMOLOGY. Position Highlights:

The Chair has responsibility for the development and maintenance of efficient and effective clinical operations and the promotion of collaborative work relationships between clinicians at all levels. Specific responsibilities include the following:

  • Achieving high Department performance through commitment to evidence-based eye care, process improvement and the development of a quality improvement program.
  • The Chair oversees all academic and teaching components carried out by the Department of Ophthalmology and ensures the highest level of clinical quality and patient safety.
  • Successful Chair candidates will be recognized as outstanding leaders and have an excellent track record in clinical care, research, and teaching within a nationally recognized eye program.
  • The successful candidate must be collaborative and able to lead an efficient and effective eye program across a large enterprise with the highest standards of clinical outcomes.
  • Current board certification with American Board of Ophthalmology is required.
  • Current license, or eligible for medical license, in the state of Louisiana.
  • Candidates must exhibit values consistent with the mission of Ochsner Health to serve, heal, lead, educate and innovate.

The Department of Ophthalmology at Ochsner Health is recognized as a leader in providing top quality eye care in the Southeast and Gulf Coast regions. Our team consist of 34 ophthalmologists and optometrists who practice across the entire breadth of the specialty. Members of the department participate in patient care at several facilities in the New Orleans metropolitan area, the Bayou Region, and the region north of Lake Pontchartrain. In addition, Ochsner Health serves as a training site for the LSU Ophthalmology residency training program and maintains AUPO approved Retina and Glaucoma fellowships programs.
