This position is for the Sexual Health Program Team.
This position is anticipated to extend until January 30, 2025, subject to availability of work and funding
Southwestern Public Health (SWPH) currently has an exciting opportunity for a Physician for our Sexual Health Clinics.
At SWPH, our goal is to support people in Oxford County, Elgin County and the City of St. Thomas to achieve and maintain optimal sexual health and reduce the prevalence of sexually transmitted infections and unintended pregnancies. We provide evidence-based, client-centered, trauma-informed, non-judgmental, confidential, accessible and affordable clinical services.
We are currently seeking a physician to serve clients at scheduled Sexual Health Clinics in Woodstock. This position will require availability to work approximately 3 shift a month, along with additional vacation coverage as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS INCLUDE:

  • Current registration with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario and Certification from the College of Family Physicians (CCFP), and/or Fellow of Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (FRCPC).
  • Appropriate coverage under the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA) or comparable medical legal coverage.
  • Knowledgeable in sexual health, including the diagnosis and management of sexually transmitted infections and birth control methods.
  • Experience working in programs with a sexual health focus, or family practice settings managing sexual health issues would be preferable.
  • Skilled in IUD/IUS insertions and venipuncture.
  • Previous teaching experience would be an asset.
  • Ability to work within an interdisciplinary team.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills. Fluency in languages other than English is an asset.
  • Ability to provide culturally sensitive, non-judgemental service.
  • Interest and skills in working with diverse and high-risk populations.
  • Strong computer skills would be an asset.
  • Familiarity with government legislation, such as occupational health and safety, and privacy legislation.
  • Available to work in various locations and under flexible hours and conditions.
  • Willing and able to work evenings.
  • A valid Ontario driver’s license, access to a reliable motor vehicle during working hours.
    A criminal reference check completed within the last six (6) months from a Canadian Police Information Centre (CPID), inclusive of vulnerable sector screening, will be required of the successful candidate.
    Immunization Requirements: Provide documentation you have received two (2) doses of the Covid-19 vaccine, plus at least one booster dose, and acknowledgement to follow Southwestern Public Health’s policies and processes related to COVID-19 management in the workplace.

Responsibilities:

  • Assessing, diagnosing and treating sexually transmitted infections (including HPV/genital warts), prescribing birth control, cervical screening, and facilitating the achievement and maintenance of sexual and reproductive health.
  • Providing effective, client-centered, non-judgmental, confidential, easily accessible and affordable multidisciplinary clinical services.
  • Working within the policies and procedures established by Southwestern Public Health.
