Responsibilities:
PURPOSE OF THE POST:
To provide holistic care to the residents of St. Catherine’s Nursing Home
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The role of the Carer incorporates the following duties, this list may not be exhaustive and may be added to if appropriate:
- To ensure at all times the residents are treated with dignity, respect and loving care
- To provide leadership and guidance and ensure the highest possible standard of care and develop a caring relationship with each resident
- To promote a friendly and supportive environment and extend hospitality to all who enter our centre
- To ensure the hoists and other adaptive equipment is used as per assessment and to participate in training to develop and maintain the skills necessary to do so.
- To be aware of the dependency level of each resident and actively encourage greater independence as appropriate
- To work as part of a team within the ethos of the centre
- To promote a positive working environment and promote staff to ensure the atmosphere of the centre is positive for residents
- To promote a friendly and supportive environment and extend hospitality to all who enter our centre
- To report any defective/faulty equipment
- To develop relevant skills and abilities by taking part in training courses
- To report accidents, incidents and complaints in the appropriate manner
- To be an active advocate for residents
- Have a flexible approach to work in response to organisational change, development and review of best practice.
Participate in performance reviews through feedback to the CNM.
To ensure infection control procedures are adhered to at all times
To maintain confidentiality regarding all aspects of the affairs of the St Catherine’s and the people who avail of the serviceTo adhere to all Health & Safety statutory requirements and Fire procedures and to practice according to St. Catherine’s policies, procedures and protocols.
