Western Health is recruiting to a permanent, full-time Grade 4 Clinical Lead - Musculoskeletal and Advanced Practice Physiotherapist.
This Grade 4 leadership role is responsible for leading the musculoskeletal and advanced practice teams across the care continuum at Western Health, and includes a clinical caseload in advanced practice physiotherapy. You will be well supported by the leadership team, including another part time Grade 4 Physiotherapist (Advanced Practice and Musculoskeletal Clinical Lead) in your stream.
You will play a pivotal role in supporting Musculoskeletal and Advanced Practice Physiotherapists at Western Health, facilitating excellent opportunities for them to learn and develop. The wider team provide excellent clinical services to inpatients, outpatients and advanced practice clinics roles the Musculoskeletal, Women’s Health and Paediatric streams.
As the Grade 4 Physiotherapist, you will work collaboratively with key stakeholders to deliver excellence in patient care, teaching and training, and research at Western Health. The Grade 4 is responsible for coordinating musculoskeletal team and service development including strategic planning in line with Western Health values.
The position on offer will require advanced communication skills, an aptitude for team work and flexibility, along with a passion for mentoring and supporting junior staff. The successful candidate will also lead research and quality improvement within the Physiotherapy service, and be supported by senior medical and allied health staff with expertise in these fields.
Western Health is growing, with New Footscray Hospital due to open in 2025, and new facilities planned at Melton and Point Cook. As the Grade 4 Physiotherapist, you will help our team to grow as we continue to expand, as one of metropolitan Melbourne’s largest healthcare providers.

Responsibilities:

  • Have experience in leading Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy services, and Advanced Practice roles, with expert clinical skills in relation to clinical assessment, radiological interpretation, differential diagnosis, and experience in management of complex orthopaedic conditions
  • Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Have experience in leading and building teams, and fostering continuous improvement
  • Possess experience collaborating and building strong partnerships with key stakeholders
  • Contribute to operational and strategic planning, with innovative ideas
  • Possess a solid understanding of clinical governance and requirements in relation to Advanced Practice
  • Demonstrate a passion for delivery of holistic, patient centred care
  • Be able to work both collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams, and also demonstrate a high degree of autonomy
  • Ensure safe and high quality patient care is delivered in line with Western Health values and the Live Best Care framework
