Our European Industrial Gases business includes a network of pipeline infrastructure delivering gas to our customers. Maintaining the integrity of the pipeline network is crucial to our business, and we rely on an experienced European Pipeline Integrity Engineer to provide support to the Maintenance, Engineering and Plant Operations team.
The focus of the position is to provide technical support for onshore pipelines in the geography covered by EMEA. This will include providing input for design, statutory approvals, pipeline relocations, maintenance and inspection. The Engineer will also provide support for engineering, operations and maintenance activities for new plants and additions to existing production plants.
The successful candidate will be a key member of the Industrial Gases Production with responsibilities for ensuring continued and safe operation of pipeline network across Europe. Success on the job will include close co-operation with plant management, maintenance groups in addition to working with the pipeline and pressure systems community.
As our Pipeline Integrity Engineer you will:
-

Contribute as the technical/design engineer for new pipelines and modification to existing pipelines. This includes providing technical input to Projects from design to execution and being responsible for engineering design deliverables.

  • Provide engineering review for pipeline design, material selection, layouts & drawings, datasheets, requisitions & bid evaluations. Collaborating with Project, Operations and other technical disciplines for successful project execution.
  • Ensure the pipeline preventative maintenance program satisfies both Statutory requirements and Air Products procedures (as appropriate), and the program is contained in the asset integrity program and scheduled in the maintenance management system. Ensuring alignment with a Deming cycle or PDCA strategy.
  • Evaluate inspection results, assess fitness for purpose to industry standard (e.g. ASME B31.8S) and recommend corrective actions. For repairs, modifications and changes to existing pipelines provide technical review and approval.
  • Assist the Plant Manager/ Pipeline Manager for submissions and/or presentations to third parties and regulatory authorities. Also provide support for operational pipeline-related activities including audits: internal, clients and regulatory authorities.
  • Participate and contribute to studies including QRA / OPHR assessments as required by the company’s risk assessment or regulatory requirements.
  • Develop and maintain specifications for Consultant Engineering companies undertaking non/routine inspection/maintenance tasks e.g. cathodic protection and DCVG examinations. Provide technical support to Engineering and/or Ops Projects on permit issues, design documents, risk assessments for construction of new pipelines in the region.

As our Pipeline Integrity Engineer you will have:
-

A degree in Pipeline Engineering, or relevant engineering in Mechanical, PretroChem, Industrial Engineering degree, or other.

  • Engineering experience as either pipeline design or integrity engineer working in Gas, Petrochemicals, Chemical related industries is mandatory.
  • A strong understanding of onshore pipeline design principles, standards, materials, calculations and stress analysis.
  • Working knowledge of pipeline inspection strategies and techniques is beneficial.
  • Knowledge of European and International design standards and codes (e.g. ASME, API, ISO, EN, DNV) is mandatory. In addition, knowledge of relevant country-specific pipeline regulations and codes is beneficial.
  • Working experience with third party design companies and maintenance service providers.
  • Good communicator, excellent team player, dynamic and proactive individual with ability to build relationships with a wide variety of people including pipeline customers, authorities, technicians, contractors.
