Description:

Bilton Welding and Manufacturing Ltd is seeking a dynamic and skilled Piping/Package Designer-Draft Person to join our innovative team. As a key member of our design department, you’ll play a crucial role in creating 3D models and detailed fabrication drawings that drive the success of our projects.
Location: Innisfail, Alberta Schedule: Monday to Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Diploma in Engineering Design and Drafting Technology or equivalent is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Inventor (or SolidWorks), Autodesk, and AutoCAD is required.
  • Proficiency in CADWorx for designing piping packages is also an asset.
  • Strong understanding of Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) including symbols and basic equipment functions.
  • Knowledge of ASME codes, and API standards.
  • Experience creating BOMs and utilizing ERP software (Made2Manage) for inventory management.
  • Attention to detail with a keen eye for accuracy in drawings and documentation.
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively within a team.
  • 3-5 years of industry experience in a similar role.
  • 5+years of design experience, preferably in welding and manufacturing.

Responsibilities:

  • Create 3D models and detailed fabrication drawings using Autodesk Inventor for pressure vessels, structural skids/platforms, and tanks.
  • Create 3D models and isometric piping drawings using CADWorx for piping packages.
  • Enter the detailed Bill of Materials into MRP/ERP software for purchasing.
  • Interpret customer and engineering markups, incorporating changes into drawings promptly.
  • Generate drawing files for parts to be cut by plasma table, ensuring precision and efficiency in fabrication.
  • Incorporate any changes made during fabrication into final as-built drawings to maintain accurate documentation.
  • Ensure all drawings are completed in compliance with client specifications to meet quality standards.
  • Collaborate with the Production team to identify and resolve issues, ensuring smooth project execution.
  • Work closely with Project Managers to address design questions and ensure project objectives are met.
  • Partner with Engineering to ensure designs are efficient and cost-effective, contributing to project success.
