Description:

BUILDING A SUSTAINABLE TOMORROW

We are looking to recruit an experienced and motivated Planning Engineer to lead the planning on the British Antarctic Survey (BAS) Construction Framework. The role will require the planning of works to upgrade research stations and facilities in Antarctica including construction of a new Hangar building, new Operations building, future renewables projects, dismantling of existing facilities and overall replacement of the research station and move to carbon net zero stations over 9+ years framework contract.
The role also offers the opportunity to visit Antarctica as part of the planning effort.

Responsibilities:

  • Developing and maintaining detailed programmes in P6 from first principles including resource loading.
  • Integration and management of sub-contractor programmes with our own.
  • Assimilate and interpret information from tender and project documentation.
  • Understand civil construction techniques and developing them into a working programme.
  • Coordinate with estimators and commercial teams on all programme aspects.
  • Compile concise narratives, phasing, reports and supporting documents for input into quality submissions for tenders and projects.
  • Take ownership of the programme to drive project delivery.
  • Utilise a number of planning techniques and tools to communicate the programme effectively.
  • Contribute, support and communicate programme information, risk and commercial issues to operational teams in a variety of formats.
  • Produce and chair collaborative planning workshops with clients, operational teams and subcontractors (depending on Project requirements).
  • Update and monitor project progress, compile reports against project and contract requirements.
  • Introduce and analyse change in programmes and support the commercial teams.
  • Evaluate supply chain and subcontract programmes.
  • Comply with business processes and systems.
  • Maintain awareness of latest construction techniques
