Description:

Located approximately 26 miles from the City of Fairbanks, Fort Knox is a centre of excellence for the Company as one of the few cold weather heap leach facilities in the world. Fort Knox celebrated its 25-year anniversary in 2021, and has produced over 8.5 million ounces since it began operation. In 2020, Kinross acquired Manh Choh – a project expected to commence production in 2024 and process ore at Fort Knox.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Modify, rebuild, or overhaul electronic and electrical equipment and controls. Applies knowledge of electric theory and electronic principles in determining equipment malfunctions and applies skills in restoring equipment to operation.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Employee must have sufficient education to read and write instructions, perform simple mathematical calculations, and keep records.
  • 3 Years Professional Electrical or Instrumentation Experience preferred.
  • Technical knowledge of electronics.

SKILLS

  • Must have solid verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to work with others in a team environment.
  • Ability to function within the qualifications outlined in the attached physical demands sheets.
  • Must be available for shift work, overtime, holidays, and weekends.
  • Progression through wage scale is contingent upon satisfactory completion of attached checklists.

Responsibilities:

  • Receive wiring diagrams, drawings, specifications, and instructions, either verbally or in writing, concerning emergency and scheduled repair, installation, and inspection work to be performed.
  • Plan and perform work requiring a thorough knowledge of electrical and electronic theory and principles of operation and application of electronic equipment.
  • Responsible for identifying needed replacement parts and to prepare requisitions for their purchase.
  • Plan details of working procedures to determine material or replacement needs and determine a logical approach to repair problems.
  • Service electronic equipment by checking, testing, and replacing faulty components, circuit modules, printed circuit boards, vacuum tubes, and similar electronic devices.
  • Perform plant-wide electronic and electrical maintenance, making operating adjustments as required.
  • Make sketches of parts and layout. Design and construct adaptations of component parts or standard parts as required.
  • Maintain and install communication cables, power distribution cables and wiring; perform splicing as required.
  • Fabricate parts as required using machine and hand tools common to the trade.
  • Inform supervisor and line mechanics of potentially dangerous electrical equipment and corrective actions taken.
  • Advise operators and line mechanics of standard operating procedures and requirements for working safely with electronic equipment and components.
  • Maintain company-required performance and maintenance records for electronic and electrical equipment.
  • Punctuality and regular attendance are required.
  • Meet or exceed established performance expectations set by management.
  • Compliance with all company policies and procedures, including, but not limited to, safety, confidentiality, and environmental policies.
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license issued by the state.
  • Work safely in all areas, identify potential safety hazards, and work with management to correct hazards.
  • Work without significant risk of harm to self and others.
  • Perform other duties as required.
