The Impact You’ll Make in this Role
As a Plant Engineering Manager, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:
- Leads site plant engineering and responsibility for staffing, budget attainment, workload forecasting, and succession planning.
- Develops and maintains the technical competency for the Plant Engineering team, provides leadership, coaching and direction to salary and hourly union resources.
- Determines and implements strategic and operational plans for Plant Engineering and Disruptive Technology to support overall business needs. Develops infrastructure renewal plans, leads overall investment to support production improvements, cost reduction and capacity, and manages overall capital investment for the site.
- Supports Management of Change (MOC) and Pre-Safety Start-up Review (PSSR) processes to ensure safe and effective implementation of change. Ensures Maintenance Conscious Engineering (MCE) considerations are raised during project team meetings as Plant Engineering/Maintenance representative.
- Supports and ensures environmental, health, safety, regulatory and intellectual property compliance. Provides direction for effective and consistent use of design standards and guidelines. Complies with professional and quality standards, corporate policies and procedures, and acts in a manner consistent with 3M’s values, practices and ethical standards.
- Evaluates equipment and maintenance history to determine and establish appropriate preventive maintenance requirements and/or to recommend predictive maintenance programs for optimizing effectiveness of maintenance procedures and maximizing reliability.
Your Skills and Expertise
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a Science or Engineering discipline AND ten (10) years of manufacturing experience

- Experience leading salary and hourly union employees, and technical development and training of employees
- Project leadership experience
- Ability to work well with cross-functional peer team, provide leadership for a diverse organization, and influence skills to support positive change acceptance within the work team
