SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Extensive IT architecture experience, ideally within the Insurance, Financial Services, and/or Government sector.
  • Qualifications in Architecture (TOGAF, Zachman).
  • Strong technical knowledge and understanding of platform concepts.
  • A broad range of experience with developing IT reference architectures and strategic roadmaps.
  • Experience developing strategic roadmaps and technology reference architectures.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and communicating technical standards, policies, and guidelines.
  • Broad experience in a wide range of information system technologies and technical architectures.

Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE

Accountable for developing, leading and managing the architecture delivery of a strategic capability from design to benefits realisation and operational embedment. Establish strong stakeholder relationships, use exceptional negotiation and influencing skills to bring together stakeholders from across the organisation to develop and deliver enterprise level solutions and outcomes.

DUTIES

It’s an exciting time at icare where no two days are the same; as Platform Architect you will:

  • Maintain and develop the platform architecture artefacts, including current state, future state, roadmap, patterns, blueprints, and health of the domain landscape ensuring alignment with enterprise architectures and principles.
  • Undertake high level research, horizon scanning and analysis to identify future trends, related strategies, policy priorities and issues to support future requirements for the enterprise, its customers and business partners.
  • Proactively and regularly engage the frontline users of the in-scope platform/domain technologies to understand and uplift the user experience.
  • Collaboratively work with and support the icare architecture technology practice for the platform fostering knowledge sharing, driving excellence, supporting solutions/designs, and ensuring the broader enterprise architecture strategy is being realised at a platform level.
  • Where a solution primarily impacts this platform then lead and/or carry out the development of architecture heatmaps, conceptual designs and solution designs including engaging other architects (enterprise, platform, solution) as required.
  • As the key knowledge expert, provide platform/domain input into heatmaps and designs developed by other platform and solution architects.
  • Provide architectural direction to development teams, participate in project implementations, and monitor and review progress on program and strategies against reference enterprise and platform architecture and strategies.
  • Work proactively with internal and external providers to research, evaluate, select, test, and implement hardware and software systems.
  • Ensure alignment of solutions delivered by providers, and internal architects with published reference architectures and IT strategies.
  • Participate in internal architectural governance forums ensuring appropriate design decisions are made.
  • Lead the introduction of new technologies into the organisation by clearly understanding the enterprise requirements and running the appropriate technology selection process.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance regarding the design and implementation of strategic platforms.
  • Identify and analyse IT insurance strategic issues/options and align technology vision with business strategy to guide the development, implementation, and governance of IT strategies
  • Review, analyse and provide input for continuous improvement into IT strategies and systems to provide recommendations on the alignment, risk, financial value, and contribution to organisational priorities.
