About the Role

FOR INFORMAL ENQUIRIES, PLEASE CONTACT VISHAL SHAH AT VISHAL.SHAH@WARWICK.AC.UK.

The University are making a centralised nano/micro fabrication facility, which is called the Nanofabrication Research Technology Platform (“Facility”). We are seeking to appoint a Platform Technician who will be a technical support and help us carry out our world changing research.
This role is to support the infrastructure, equipment and facilities necessary to ensure the Nanofabrication Research Technology Platform (NanoFab) meets the appropriate legal requirements, standards of performance and welfare in all of the services it delivers and remains internationally competitive.
This role will become a custodian for the facility through taking responsibility for service and maintenance of equipment, facility and infrastructure requirements including health and safety aspects. This will be so that current and prospective users of the facility - university staff and academic collaborators - have maximum service uptime.
Full information on the role is in the attached job description.
About You
We are looking for someone with experience in working with scientific equipment, facilities and services. The successful candidate must have previous experience of technical facility maintenance, which desirably would be cleanroom based, but this is not essential. Ideally you will have worked in a semiconductor laboratory environment for high purity semiconductor materials, but this is not essential.
Along with the RTP Manager (RTPM), you will co-ordinate the daily activity of the facility. With respect to the equipment, infrastructure and services, this includes: ensuring legal compliance, fault diagnosis and solution; managing maintenance contract cover; including ordering of equipment and consumables and cleaning of the facility.
You will have some background in design, technical diagrams, as well as health and safety requirements.
The ideal candidate will have the ability to build effective relationships with users and customers, internal and external to the organisation and demonstrate previous successes and skills transference to others.
You must have excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work on your own initiative, manage a small team/project and coordinate multiple projects.
Full information on the skills and experience required is in the attached job description.
About the Department
Whilst this role will initially be based within the School of Engineering, it is anticipated that it may eventually move into a newly formed team within an independent Platform. If this happens the postholder will continue to be employed by the University of Warwick, but their line manager, team structure and location of work may change.
The School of Engineering at the University of Warwick iis one of top 10 in the UK and top 100 in the world university. The University of Warwick is fully equipped with all necessary materials characterisation and electrochemical testing facilities.
The University aims to promote work life balance for all employees and the School of Engineering will consider a range of possible flexible working arrangements in order to recruit the best candidate.
