Description:

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in system design, and development of schematics and wiring diagrams.
  • Strong understanding of industrial automation concepts and principles.
  • Experience with PLC hardware and software from leading manufacturers (e.g., Siemens, Allen-Bradley, Unitronics).
  • Ability to read and interpret P&IDs.
  • Ability to develop electrical schematics using Altium.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Possess P.Eng designation or similar professional credentials.
  • Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in PLC systems (e.g., ladder logic, structured text).
  • Professional certifications in PLC programming or automation.
  • Ability to develop P&IDs using AutoCAD Revit.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and regulations relevant to industrial automation.

Responsibilities:

ROLE:

CoolIT Systems, Inc. is looking for an experienced PLC System Design Engineer to join our Engineering Team. This position will be reporting to the Electrical Design Team Manager, the PLC System Design Engineer will be responsible for the design and development of Direct Liquid Cooling products such as Coolant Distribution Units.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with project managers, mechanical engineers, software engineers, electrical engineers and other stakeholders to define project requirements and specifications.
  • Develop detailed schematics and wiring diagrams for the entire control system, including power distribution, signal routing, and device interconnections.
  • Define and design the wiring layout from site input power to end-device control, ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
  • Design and develop PLC control systems using industry-leading hardware and software platforms.
  • Modify and debug PLC code in accordance with industry standards and best practices.
  • Develop detailed control narratives, process shutdown keys, process flow charts and interface control documentation to provide a comprehensive overview of the system functionality and interactions.
  • Conduct thorough testing and validation of PLC systems to ensure reliability and performance.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to junior engineers and technicians as needed.
  • Participate in on-site installation, commissioning, and maintenance activities as required.
  • Stay current with advancements in PLC technology and recommend improvements to existing systems.
