Description:

Responsibilities:

  • To prepare, plan, install & coordinate plumbing works as directed by the Maintenance Manager and the plumbing Foreman.
  • To assemble, install, test & commission plumbing Systems throughout the Mater Misericordiae University Campus and associated external buildings.
  • To carry out recommended Pre-Planned plumbing Maintenance system checks in accordance with all relevant standards & regulations.
  • To ensure all relevant plumbing pre-connection & post-connection tests are carried out as outlined by the appropriate Technical Council of Ireland.
  • To provide the plumbing Foreman with weekly progress reports and updates surrounding current and active maintenance & project works.
  • Provide mechanical installation support on all project works as directed by the Maintenance Manager and the plumbing Foreman.
  • Ensure all maintenance and project activity is captured via the hand held maintenance devices daily and in real-time.
  • Ensure the quality of work provided exceeds the acceptable standard and that all non-compliant or unacceptable works is highlighted to the plumbing Foreman.
  • To perform duties as instructed by the plumbing Foreman on a day to day basis.
  • To Take appropriate care to protect the health & safety of themselves and of others in the workplace by adhering to the following, Health & Safety at Work Acts 2005 & 2007 and the Health & Safety at work (2013) Construction Regulations.
  • Ensure all works carried out are in line with the Health & Safety Regulations outlined above.
  • Liaising with key stake holders to schedule works, minimising the disruption to both patients and the Hospitals operations.
  • Manage the procurement of materials for the plumbing shop, ensuring that materials are available for scheduled works in advance of the activity. When available to procure materials via the Hospitals appointed electronic procurement system this must be utilised in completing procurement tasks.
  • To identify health and safety risks associated with the delivery of the service and report immediately to the Plumbibg Foreman.
  • Undertake risk assessments on all non-standard work requests. This is to include all working at height activities, confined spaces Medium Voltage works and any other high risk activity.
  • To ensure compliance with all health & safety legislation and compliance with all statutory and regulatory obligations and requirements of our insurers.
  • Ensure the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment is worn at all times.
  • Ensure all fall protection equipment has been tested and is only used within the certified period covered by the testing.
  • To record all activities in the Hospitals Maintenance Management system, working with the Maintenance Manager & the Plumbing Foreman to improve the collection of data.
  • Manage the Plumbing work requests, ensuring that work is allocated on a priority basis through the electronic system.
  • Attend and participate in the Hospitals mandated training programs as directed by HR, Maintenance Management, Health & Safety & the Fire Department.
  • Provide reports in respect to Plumbing tasks undertaken within the Hospital. Accurate and detailed data input to the Hospitals Maintenance Management System will aid in this delivery.
  • To provide support to the Plumbing Foreman in developing Mechanical specifications.
  • Manage attendance and work rosters to ensure the site has optimal cover, consult with the Plumbing Foreman when attendance or cover falls short of expectation. The successful candidate shall clock in & out as per the clock machine and maintenance office guidelines
